Magnolia Cemetery Association offers two adjacent locations as burial sites: Magnolia Cemetery and Everitt Cemetery. We are located in the Magnolia Community, approximately 20 minutes northwest of Cleveland, Texas.  We are recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. 

Magnolia Cemetery was formed in 1854 on land donated by Dan and Alice Jeffcoat to serve the residents of the then-called Everitt-Magnolia Community, and sits on just over two acres. The community was formed before the Civil War. At least two families: Nancy Jane and John Richards, and Rachael (Knight) and James Allen Lilley, Sr. came here between 1858 and 1860. After the war, there was an influx of people from the Old South, primarily Mississippi and Alabama. Other families known to have been here before or just after the turn of the century were: Everitts, Kennedys, Gilberts, Mizells, Jacksons, Averys, Vanns, Prewitts, Bradys, Yeagers, Whitmires, Lewises, Jeffcoats, Mathises or Matthews, Rixes, Rawls, Purkersons, Youngbloods, Crawfords, Turners, Burgeses, Andersons, Overtons, Moores, Smiths and Moodys.

Everitt Cemetery, located across from Magnolia Cemetery, is a two-acre tract of land generously donated by Sharron Shirley Everitt in memory of her parents, James “Jim” Shirley and Marie Mizell Shirley, and by her husband, R. Dale Everitt, in memory of his great-great-grandparents, Isaphelia “Icy” Abregella Traweek Everitt and William Nyle Everitt, the first appointed postmaster of Everitt, Texas, in 1890. All four of these individuals are laid to rest in Magnolia Cemetery.
